[RBW] Handlebars for problem backs?
Hi to all and hope the new year is starting well. After a year of sporadic back problems i recently spent some time with a bone and joint specialist and was told i have Degenerative Disc(sp?) Disease. Not terrible but not really fixable without drastic measures. My Dr also advised me that time on my Riv was certainly preferable to the running i was also doing.Having said that i plan on adding some time to my current riding.Currently i have Albatross bars on my Atlantis frame but my riding thus far has been mostly short trips to town and back and short rides then breaks to eat, fish, etc. As i increase the length of my rides will the Albatross(or some other upright style bar you recommend) still be my best bet or will drops be a better option? Thanks in advance for any advice, Mike -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Thanks Dr. Lavine,Some of the most detailed info(in a good way) and help i received thus far in gathering information. Mike S. [RBW] Re: FS: Heron Touring, very nice
Olaf,What is the current asking price? I wasn't sure if the price in the printed pages was the original or current asking price? Thanks,Mike S. [RBW] Re: (f)Atlantis gets a new look
Mark,I am having an Atlantis being built as i type this and am wondering about bars. Do you like the Albas better than Drops for long (50+ mile) road rides? Thanks,Mike S. I had Noodles on before, which I found to be one of the most comfortable bars I've tried yet. After two rides, I've gotta say. This is a new level of luxury. I feel like I'm riding a couch on two wheels. It's not so easy to keep a higher pace when being so upright, but that's ok. Here's a few photos from a surprisingly warm-ish February ride on the river and through the forest. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-hE9dN6M7AxQ/VOKZXfnCsYI/JyM/34UbSidg3Lk/s1600/Atlantis_Albatross_Winter-4.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kJN7UKAlRFs/VOKZpqPCJfI/JyU/NqWtNbBJBd8/s1600/Atlantis_Albatross_Winter-9.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-pqKpkfkbdbc/VOKaPaQZqOI/Jyc/DzY5Grm2U7Q/s1600/Atlantis_Albatross_Winter-15.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-t9zTYZOg1M0/VOKbGpSRObI/Jyo/3ts7xGzNs0c/s1600/Atlantis_Albatross_Winter-18.jpg -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Sams versatility
Some thoughts from the group please? I have my wifes Riv ordered and hope to place the order for mine soon. I am 6' 235 pds 35' PBH,and will use my bike for quick 4 mile trips to town, 35 mile rides to family visits in the next county, and (hopefully) at some point a trip across the State of Tn. Very limited off road use but maybe occasional rides on State Park fire trails. Is this asking too much long term of a Sam? Would an Atlantis or Hunq be better suited to my plans? [RBW] Advice on sizing please.
I am preparing to order my wife an Atlantis. Her PBH is 81.3cm or 32 in. She is very wary of getting a bike site unseen as we have been sold bikes too small in the past. I am a huge fan of Rivendell's way of thinking but want to be sure we get the right frame size to allow a comfortable upright riding position. Any thoughts on frame sizes ? While we're at it i will probably order myself an Atlantis after March. My PBH is 88.9cm or 35 in. Suggestions for me? Thanks in advance and i really enjoy the Group. [RBW] Help me decide
Hi! Help needed with my first Rivendell. Most of my riding will be on paved and occasionally gravel roads with a very rare trip down an easy State Park fire trail. Never done any mountain biking or trail riding. Originally planned on ordering an Atlantis but due to my size (i am 6' 1 and 235 pds) i am wondering if a Hunqapillar(sp?) would be better? Would the beefier frame on the Hunq be better even for paved road touring since i am a plus size person ? I hope to call Brian Monday to place the order so any helpful advice would be appreciated.
