[RBW] Re: Has anyone else tried the new Riv seat?

2024-03-02 Thread schralp
Very happy with mine which I put on the platypus first. I liked it so much
I bought 2 more for my other bikes. One came a little lopsided but they
replaced it promptly and I am a happy camper. The more I ride this saddle,
the better I like it. I like it more than my Brooks at this point. Give
them a try!

[RBW] Re: Who’s getting a Platypus tomorrow?

2023-10-20 Thread schralp
I was in a similar situation last year and made the leap. I loved it
immediately and almost never ride my other bikes now. Struggled a little to
get the right saddle sorted but finally landed on a B67 which is perfect
for me and the way my platypus is configured for upright riding. Now, of
course, I have a couple of Brooks Flyers lying around but they will move to
a new home soon I hope. I’m not really quite sure what it is but the
platypus just glides; like it’s floating on air. I hope you have the same
experience I have had over the last year and a half or so. Enjoy!

[RBW] FS: Brooks Flyer x 2

2023-10-19 Thread schralp
Black carved and tan softened (no cutout). Both have less than 20 miles. I
went back and forth but ultimately settled on B67 for both bikes which just
fit me better. $100 obo for each. If you haven’t used a flyer be aware that
all of the Brooks sprung saddles tend to have some squeaking when riding
and there are things that can mitigate but may be hard to completely
eliminate. Doesn’t bother me but everyone has a different tolerance for it.

[RBW] Re: Best saddle for very upright posture?

2022-12-05 Thread schralp
I just went through all of the Brooks iterations over the last 3 months for
my Platypus. I found B67 was the right seat for my posture and rear. Flyer
not flat enough, flyer carved pinches areas that shouldn't be pinched, B17
also not flat enough and my old Professional definitely not comfortable for
upright riding. YMMV but I find the flat rear section perfect for upright
riding and get no impingement on the hamstrings on the downstroke. The
springs provide just enough give rocking back and forth at my weight (175#)
but do not dampen much vibration. Hope that helps.

[RBW] Re: Flyer vs. B67

2022-11-16 Thread schralp
So, after trying them all over the last couple months, I am (or, my
hindquarters are…) happiest with the B67. It’s the perfect fit for my sit
bones in the position I am in on the Platypus and doesn’t get in the way of
anything while pedaling. Any helpful suggestions on divesting of the spares?

Like new condition purchased in August 2022 as I sorted out which seat
worked best for me on my new Platypus. I ended up preferring the B67 so
looking to part ways with this one. $110.

Thanks; nice to be a part of it. I like that the Flyer can be had with a

Unfortunate that B67 does not have that option but maybe I should try both

[RBW] Flyer vs. B67

2022-08-29 Thread schralp
Just joined after purchasing my first Country bike; a beaut of a lime olive
platypus. Goal is to get more upright and it was outfitted with albatross
bars which are about perfect. However, I put my Brooks professional from
the 70s on and it doesn’t quite match the more upright position. I’m
thinking Flyer vs b67. Any recommendations from this esteemed group and,
how does one avoid annoying squeaks with those spring saddles. My riding is
essentially road and hard packed dry trails in so. Cal. Thanks!
