Check out planet bike alx, which are their aluminum version. Easier to install
than velo orange.

65 mm version

Berthoud makes 60mm steel fenders, which are excellent as well. I had them
on my Hunqapillar before I sold it.

I'm using 52mm Velo Orange Zeppelins on Snoqualmie Pass tires with no issues.
They're not overly roomy but I'm OK with what I've got. They'd be good with
anything smaller, i.e., 42, 40, or 38. I've wrangled with Honjo installations
before and these were much easier, even though they employ the same type of
attachment.

Honjo makes a super wide H95 (65mm). Has anyone here tried these?

[RBW] Atlantis Fender recommendations

2017-08-07 Thread John G.
Hey all,

I'm looking to get some fenders on my Atlantis. Here's the criteria:

- 700c wheels
- Snoqualmie Pass 44mm tires. Would consider going to 38mms, but honestly,
I'd prefer to keep things fat. 50mm tires would be even better!
- I mostly ride on the road, but occasionally hit some light gravel
- I'd much prefer aluminum over plastic.

I don't think Honjo makes a set that meets my requirements. Any other
recommendations, or am I wrong about Honjo?

Thanks,
John

[RBW] Atlantis Fender Recommendations

2010-04-11 Thread Mitch Browne
The Atlantis build is coming along. I put on the new Schwalbe Marthon
Plus 700x45's yesterday and this is the result:

 http://tinyurl.com/ya8tolq

One wrinkle was the straddle cable on the Paul Touring Canti's I
picked up locally on CL - $75 doesn't provide much clearance and that
will need replacing. The canti's have the large moon carrier and I'm
wondering if I should replace that with one one of the fixed cables.
Suggestion?

Anyone have experience with fender's on these large tires? SKS doesn't
explicitly state their's will fit and Planet Bike has 29er's that will
fit but only in black.

Oh! and tell me WHY I put the 12-36t on this? Thanks. Mitch.
