[RBW] Cupcake Failure Ride.

2011-03-06 Thread manueljohnacosta
Another brief sunny day in the Bay Area and what better way to enjoy
it then to get a wheel rebuild! To bad I lack the parts and the
knowledge to relacing a rear wheel. So I had two options; grab the
parts I needed and get the wheel rebuilt at a local bike shop or go
the RBW headquarters and have Rich work his magic. I figured it would
be a better use of my time to ride to Rivendell with the lady friend.
Kill two birds with one stone! Since my bike was required to stay I
needed a back-up plan so I brought my skateboard along for the ride.
My lady friend is some what of a cupcake connoisseur so she wanted to
bike from the closest cupcake place to Rivendell. While she got her
cupcakes I got to visit one of my favorite places in the Bay Area.
While I was there I got to sneak a peak at the Blue-grayish Hillborne
that is up for auction, very beautiful color by the way. Also snagged
some pictures of a double-top tube Soma San Marcos. It was a bitter
sweet visit because I had to leave my beloved Bleirot at the shop.
They say necessity is the mother of all invention, I say it's true.
Since I had to ride back on my skateboard I had to convert my
Sackville bag into a backpack! Riding seven miles on a bike seems easy
to some but skateboarding those seven miles back can be exhausting.
All in all a great ride until the end when taking the cupcakes out of
her basket she drops the box, leaving only a mess of frosting and
cake. Cupcake failures still make it a memorable experience. At least
I got what I wanted.

Pictures proved it happen:
