I think I have a headlight and a smaller pump. Would he need a lock? I also have a rear rack and compatible bag if his bike has eyelets for it. Matthew picked up the bike (Nashbar ss 29er mtb) this evening and took it downtown to Jerome, who as I said just started a laborer's job with the City of Albuquerque. He'd been walking all over town looking for work. Jerome has no money, even for the bus, and is too shy to ask for help, so he walks 8.5 miles across town on Central Ave./Rt. 66 from Louisiana NE to Coors NW, each way. Work ends at 3, so it must start at 7 am; he must start before dawn and walk back during the heat of the day. I greatly admire this. He has the tools he needs -- allen set and 15 mm wrench; U and cable lock; f and r button blinkies; Timbuktu bag that is missing the chest strap. If anyone can donate: 1. a decent battery (alkaline or rechargeable with charger) headlight or rear light; 2. Chest strap that will fit a standard courier bag shoulder strap (Timbuktu Medium, in this case); 3. High volume pump with Schraeder head small enough to fit into M Timbuktu; 4. Reflective triangle; 5. Decent rolling, pretty puncture resistant road tires of at least 50 mm; 6. 15 t ss cog (ie, no ramps or cutouts) with Shimano splines; I will happily pay shipping and do the needed installation and instruction.
