[RBW] Getting the Quickbeam's chainline perfect!!

2016-05-20 Thread Kainalu
No, for the middle. Ground a 52 down for a great rock ring.
A 107mm would be great, I had a 110 and it was fine too. I ditched the 32 ring,
not enough technical climbing to need it, but I do want to be comfortable
running the 40x19 option occasionally. Since I have the 103mm bottom bracket in
place and three 175 Xd2 triple cranksets, having already dug into this one, I
may as well keep digging? carefully.

[RBW] Getting the Quickbeam's chainline perfect!!

2016-05-20 Thread Brad
Are you trying to get the chainline perfect for the outermost chainring on the
XD2?

[RBW] Getting the Quickbeam's chainline perfect!!

2016-05-20 Thread Kainalu
As a wise someone once told me, perfection is an affront to god. I've now
got it, perfect chainline, but at what cost? Check out the picture.
With a 103mm bottom bracket (branded Sugino, with Suntour branded
bearings), this is my XD2 triple after having shaved off a millimeter of
aluminum so it could spin freely within the bracket.
My question:
How terrible was it to try this? And worse, if I want to keep the 103mm, is
this a spot where I, being a fairly competent metal worker, could remove
more material without lingering fear of catastrophic failure??
Thanks
