[RBW] Help me pick my second Rivendell!

2016-11-07 Thread Surlyprof
My dream is to own a 650b Hunq for trails and most other uses and a Roadeo for
road riding. I've split the difference with a Hillborne because I believe the
other dream is financially out of reach for me (and I love my Hillborne).
You've got the Hunqapillar, why not cover the other end of the spectrum with a
Roadeo?

[RBW] Help me pick my second Rivendell!

2016-11-07 Thread John G.
Hi everyone,

I'm the proud and delighted owner of a 58 cm Hunqapillar. Some of my best
days ever have been on that bike. I'm fortunate enough to be able pull
together the money for second Rivendell, but I'd like some advice.

My stable:
58 cm Hunq. Love it.
60 cm 1980 Mercian Superlight: also love this, but it's getting long in the
tooth and I want to be gentle with it.
58 cm Soma Smoothie: the black sheep. It has some very nice Ultegra
components on it, but it's really just too small, and I never ride it.

So, a few questions for the bunch:
1. I'm looking for a nimble bike for roads. Not a lot of gravel in my part
of the northeast, and the Hunq has that covered, anyway. *What Rivendell
best fits my needs in the context of my stable?*
2. I don't need 4 bikes. Should I part out the Smoothie and use it to build
up a new bike, or should I sell the complete bike?

All advice appreciated.
