[RBW] Keven Sighting on Riv Instagram
I love Keven's almost-a-cargo-Rivbike. I want one just like it with the rack no one can afford! I guess I got the last cheapish barwrap job outta Grant. I won't say how much, but it definitely wasn't $120. Thanks, Grant! It's interesting to see a Riv with a trigger shifter as an option. I've run a bunch of them on pullback bars and aside from no friction option - I don't care, I've never had a trigger give up and make me wish I could shift without the clicks - they're fabulous. [RBW] Keven Sighting on Riv Instagram
Keven showed up yesterday on Rivs Instagram feed holding up a really interesting porteur mixte. I don’t know how to link to Instagram from my phone, particularly for those of you who aren’t on Instagram. Suffice it to say, is is a mixte, with two skinny top tubes that go to the rear triangle. Those mixte tubes have a lng continuous circular bend to them, and there’s a Brakes on permanent front rack on the head tube. It’s got long chainstays. Re: [RBW] Keven
When I was recovering from my crash, I called RBW to get a quote and Keven had heard about it and was already in the process of ordering me a new frame. It made me feel so incredibly special and cared for. And he's like that with everyone! Re: [RBW] Keven
For me, Keven is RBW. While there are many other helpful and nice people at RBW, Keven defined my experience there. Always helpful, always answering my questions with a smile, always providing that extra touch to make my experience there worth the 45 minute drive. No question was ever boring, dumb or silly. I haven't been there in a couple of years, but I will miss him next time I go. The team has big shoes to fill, although I'm sure they'll make sure they do. He set an example that should endure. Re: [RBW] Keven
Second that... Keven has made my experiences with Rivendell that much better. Thank you, Keven... I hope that you'll remain part of this forum and no stranger to the Riv community. Best of luck! Thank you Keven for helping me get my Bleriot repaired after it was mangled in a crash! [RBW] Keven
Just read the newsletter, I see that Keven is moving on to different pastures, just wanted to take a moment to publicly acknowledge that he is one of the nicest people I have ever come across in my life, and played a huge part in my uber-positive Riv experience, and I'll miss calling him to ask about things like "why won't these cranks fit this bike?" and other marginalia that most people are smart enough to figure out on their own. I'll send him a note personally, but thought it might be nice to have a little public thing here to recognize his part in the great Riv world. Interacting with Keven Mowen was fun, dynamic, and invigorating There's a cool poster on my wall that reminds me of you, and there's a 73% dark chocolate bike, too. Best regards, and a tailwind. [RBW] Keven/Vince style thumbshifters
Inspired by Grants post about Liesl's gorgeous new bike, I swapped around my paul thumbies on a pair of boscos. Right paul to the left side, left paul to right side. Instead of the actual thumbshifter being on the outside where there can be overlap between where the shifter is and where your palm wants to be, the shifter moves to the inside of the bar where it's out of the way. There's no downside at all unless you like indexed shifting (which I guess you could still do if you ran your rear derailleur shifting from the left hand), and the upside is *huge*. The thumbies no longer get in the way of certain grips, you can actually hook into them pretty nicely with a thumb, and you get so much more grippable bar area than with the thumb shifters on the outside. Thanks Vince and Keven, and Grant for the photos! http://24.media.tumblr.com/fd11334eb76cd2f7f6eba6864f8a0eb3/tumblr_n30lktXPLy1qe3ngpo6_1280.jpg -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
