It doesn't rain here during the summer, so I took advantage of the public holiday yesterday to take the fenders off my Sam and give it a good cleaning. Imagine my surprise when I took the right crank off (!) to clean the chain rings and found that my right Grip King had no dust cover and I was staring at naked grease. The left side pedal isn't spinning as nicely as I'd like, so I took them both off and slapped on an old pair of clipless pedals that I had around. I used to use these with SPD sandals so I thought I'd give them a try until I can fix or replace the Grip Kings. I will order the spare dustcover and fiddle with the bearing on the left one this weekend. Meantime it's back to SPDs for a while.
