[RBW] Nice ride today, or: everyone needs a gofast road bike.

2016-02-11 Thread Joe Bernard
My no-name electric-pedal-assist folder is the shopper with folding baskets.
Bike Friday NWT and Riv CLEM are sorta tour-ish, but light and fast.
My only 700c skinny-ish tire go-fast is a KHS hybrid with a high power electric
kit. It goes FAST ;)

2016-02-11 Thread Lungimsam
My local LBS told me they had their floor demo Cannondale electric hybrid bike
up to 40mph in their parking lot.

[RBW] Nice ride today, or: everyone needs a gofast road bike.

2016-02-11 Thread Patrick Moore
20 miles -- no biggy; but I had no errand to run, so I took the gofast. The
Elk Pass tires are so nice; I can detour onto dirt, firm dirt and light
gravel, if I like -- despite their weight of 175 grams. Not that gofast
bikes need to have this capacity; but it is nice to have it when the tires
that allow it are the fastest pavement tires I've ridden (this is a seat of
pants/leg torque/cadence estimate). In fact, saying that gofasts have to be
dirt capable is like saying a racing car has to have a trunk.

Anyway: sunny, breezy, temps over 60F -- very nice; a detour for a couple
of minor hills -- living in The Valley as I do, hills have to looked for.

The point, if this divagation has a point: I'm glad I have a gofast!
Everyone ought to have one as one of the statutorily minimum 4 bikes in
their stable. Fully kitted commuting or errand bike; check. Dirt bike;
check. Beater; check. Gofast.

I:

'03 Riv: errands.
'02: gofast.
Race Lite and hopefully forthcoming Matthews: dirt.
Dahon: beater.
