Re: [RBW] Re: [650B] ISO: lycra shorts without the diaper pad...

2012-06-26 Thread Nick Worthington
Have you looked at Kucharik? They do traditional chamois liners. Haven't
purchased from them myself, but I have my eye on their traditional wool
shorts.

[RBW] Re: [650B] ISO: lycra shorts without the diaper pad...

2012-06-24 Thread Bruce Herbitter
I've picked up a few pairs of Ibex Duo shorts on Ebay and used a thread
puller from the sewing chest to remove the pads. I really like them with
RBW wool boxers or wicking fitness base layers (no center bottom seam) from
BCG or UnderArmor. Joneswares cycling shorts come without a chamois unless
you specify adding one, but they seem to be taking a Rambouillet like nap
at present.

I've also been on that same quest recently. The trend appears to be that
the descriptive term chamois has been co-opted to mean anything with a
diaper pad so one can't properly search for a real (or synthetic) chamois.

The latest avenue I've been on has been the tri shorts direction. Since
they are intended for running and swimming as well as cycling the padding
is smaller, thinner and more breathable.
Still not quite the old school favorite but the closest I've found so far.

I've been looking for some new lycra cycling shorts with a traditional
thin pad - like the synthetic chamois that was commonly used before they
 all went diaper-active.

I found some nice shorts with a Nalini pad a couple of months ago at Excel
Sports, and I ordered a pair to try, thinking I'd get more if they were all
right. Yeah, they're quite all right... and now they're no longer
 available. Geesh.

 Any suggestions?

 Thanks in advance,
 Ed.

2012-06-24 Thread Joan Oppel
Boure Bicycle Clothing - it's been quite a few years since I last purchased shorts from them but the padding is very thin, exactly what you're describing. I might have the least expensive of their shorts offerings. They are also terrific on customer service and very responsive on the phone. www.boure.com 1-888-889-9242JoanOn 06/24/12, Bruce Herbitterbruce.herbit...@gmail.com wrote:I've picked up a few pairs of Ibex Duo shorts on Ebay and used a thread puller from the sewing chest to remove the pads.
