[RBW] Re: Ahearne/MAP All rounder Bars

2015-03-07 Thread Richard L.
I swapped from a 100mm/+17 degrees to a 110mm/+17 degrees stem when I went
from Mark's drop bars to the Map/Ahearne bars, and did not change the
spacer height (20mm). I like the bars a lot, and with my increasing lack
of flexibility am much more comfortable with the upright position.
Suggest you get the wider MAP/Ahearne bars if you mount shifters and brakes
on the bars.

[RBW] Re: Ahearne/MAP All rounder Bars

2015-03-06 Thread Ron Mc
I went with an 80mm stem to get the ends of the bars about an inch behind
the stem - Aherne has a great photo with scale on the bars. The bike also
has a slightly long top tube for me.
The angle copies the Jones H bar, and feels really natural

These bars, along with the Nitto Jitensha and a couple of the VO

for city riding, off-road and whatever else. Love 'em!

I think I was using a 110mm Nitto stem with the MAP bars I had. They
 belong to the GF now.

There has been some discussion around these bars as of late and I was

thier impressions? Also any rule of thumb regarding stem length? I am using
a 100mm lugged Nitto at the moment on a 61cm AHH. Thanks!

Curious: Are these pretty similar offerings?
