No, it was the original owner's name. My story will be "it was signed
by the builder"

Just a wacky hunch... Could the "Richard S" indicate this bike was
originally built (by Waterford) for Richard Schwinn?

That color is awesome, especially up close... that's a real find
indeed. Make sure to post photos when your build is complete.

Wheels are Mavic 217 SUP laced to XTR hubs (M950 I think). Tires are
Vredestein Monte Carlo. I know nothing about them , but they're like
new, so I guess I'll be using them for a while. Not really sure how I
will build this up, it was really an impulse buy. I'm picturing
something on the heavy duty end of the spectrum. I threw some drop
bars and a seat on it last night and rode it around my living room.
(my wife was out ). It reminds me of the XO-1 I sold a while back. I
would like to do a little research on the frame, it has a Waterford
decal and a "96" in the serial #. The original owner said it was
custom made, which makes sense, the 56cm seat tube and 56cm top tube
don't match up with the standard geo info I've found, but it felt
perfect while I was chasing my dog around the house. Not having any
brakes made it interesting!

[RBW] Re: All Rounder on Chicago CL

2011-03-11 Thread rw1911
Very nice!

Your pictures reflect the bike much better than the seller's.
Interesting to see the differences from my 700c Match built AR. The
main lugs are similar, but other details such as the cable stops and
(lack of) shifter bosses is different.

2011-03-11 Thread Marty
Great bike, nice to see it go to a good home - especially one that
will share pics! Speaking of cantis, I just picked up a set of Paul
touring cantis for my new Bombadil build (thanks Eric - and nice AHH
you had there!) - it's getting close. I've had other Paul brakes for a
while, and if the cantis are anything like the racers, I'm sure I'll
love 'em. Actually, the other cantis I've always liked a lot are the
old Dia Compe 980s. They have a really nice feel. Enjoy the AR - I
hope to see it around Chicago.
