[RBW] Re: Bike Flights experience so far...pretty good

2015-08-21 Thread Bill Lindsay
Both my bikes delivered via bikeflights arrived intact. The only complaint
I have is that they charged me an extra $5 because I insisted on a
signature at the receiver-end. Jeff reports that the FedEx dude left the
box right there on the porch, without having him sign. It worked out fine,
Jeff now is building up my former A Homer Hilsen, but that would have been
REALLY unpleasant if the box had been stolen.

One of the packages was a wheelset.

This gets me to wondering, does it have to be a bike or bike part to

I'm vacationing in Europe after PBP and using them to ship from St Quentin to
Vienna, where I'll pick it up and fly home. Thus far I can only attest to the
customer service, which has been great. The shipping is $200, including $4000
insurance. That is much cheaper than my alternative of shipping back to the US
for around $700.

I was kind of skeptical at first but now I'm a huge fan and I highly
recommend them.

I've must of shipped approx 10 things through them including frames,
wheels, groups, ect.

I also shipped a bike in a Tri-All-3 case to from Portland, OR. Extremely
affordable!

Seriously, avoid retail prices at FedEx!

But, I had seen a couple people mention BikeFlights. It's basically a
website that allows me to schedule shipping a bike. I can declare a value
for insurance, specify pick-up or drop-off, specify signature policy on the
other end. It was super easy. Only at the end did I realize that the
shipper is FedEx. I dropped off a Bombadil frameset with a few other parts
in the box. Insured for $1400 and going FedEx Ground from California to
New York State, it was $54. I think that's pretty great considering the
high price horror stories I'd heard.

 BikeFlights.com is the site.

I've heard nothing but good things about BikeFlights. By chance has anyone

FedEx, so I'm curious to know the difference (if any) between BikeFlights
