[RBW] Re: Black 650b Synergy rims

2010-05-24 Thread Bryan @ Renaissance Bicycles
In fact, we have a similar setup on our Velo Orange Polyvalent
Scorcher bike:
http://www.renaissancebicycles.com/gallery/rb-gallery-1/

I've ridden it a decent amount on roads, gravel, and singletrack. The
Fatty Rumpkins are great, and 36-holed Synergy 650B wheelset is
perfect for this kind of all-rounding.

Definitely a thumbs-up!

Bryan

Thanks for the heads up. I had done all the measurements on my
Davidson, and was planning on doing a 650B conversion. When you
posted this, I pulled the trigger. I got the rims and spokes from
Rich on Friday. Laced the wheels on Saturday, and finished the
conversion this afternoon.

 the time.

[RBW] Re: Black 650b Synergy rims

2010-05-23 Thread William
I rode it around the neighborhood a bit. I live on a steep slope so I
could get a decent feel for it.

My Davidson feels very strange simply because it is a low standover
height road bike. Since I've just lowered the standover by another
8mm or so makes it feel tiny. Despite that, the MaxyFasty tires look
just like Jack Browns when I'm in the saddle and they seem to corner
and soak up the bumps just as lusciously as Jack Browns, as they
should.

I think the plan will be to do the hilly 35 mile commute to work on
Tuesday or Thursday.

The bike is 22.5 lbs as photographed. Not bad for a lugged steel bike
with the same rims as my Bombadil and, as they say nothing light on
it
