[RBW] Re: Brooks saddle and the pool noodle

2016-07-26 Thread Lungimsam
Just ride book advocates using the foam from a Rivendell bike box for this
too. But then says check local factories who make foam. So sounds like any foam
will do. Then drill holes and lace up the saddle flaps.
The illustration calls it "firm yet compliant" foam, or something like that.
Riv might even have a youtube vid about it. Idk.

[RBW] Re: Brooks saddle and the pool noodle

2016-07-26 Thread John
Hi Lynne, I just came across this in this thread (see link):

*"Was the saddle ever comfortable? If so, keep reading. If not, I have no
suggestions.*

*Because on my Atlantis, the Brooks B17 Special I have was very comfortable
before, and now it's not. What happened was it lost firmness as it aged,
and I'm riding on the rails now if I ever try to use it, and it's not good.
It's a common problem with Brooks. The solution that Riv uses is to fill
the saddle with foam to re-establish the firmness, and I will try that
soon. Grant's suggestion to me was to just buy one of those foam noodles
that are sold as swimming-pool toys. Cut a foam piece that will fit between
the leather and rails, and try to firm it up. I believe this has been
successful for many people. Adding laces to keep everything together is an
option as well. I wouldn't try the laces without the foam, but I might try
the foam without the laces to see how that holds
up."https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/rbw-owners-bunch/selle$20anatomica%7Csort:date/rbw-owners-bunch/V6SkLt6xuMc/GGZba0EJnPQJ

*I

hope this is what you were looking for,

John
