[RBW] Re: Completing the Rivendell catalog archive

2021-01-11 Thread Eric Marth
After some research and consultation with John Bennett I have determined
(decided?) that the collection of Rivendell catalogs I posted is indeed a
full run. In looking at completed auctions, blog posts and completed sales
including Bike Tinker's "Rivendell Propaganda" post and sale as well as the
Bike Recyclery Riv/Bstone lot, I can't find evidence of catalogs that I
don't have.

There are some numbering irregularities that lead to a bit of confusion.
The second catalog is labeled Number 3. And it seems the count was lost
somewhere along the line. While the most recent catalog is "The twentieth
catalog," there are only 18 total catalogs. If you consider my pictures of
the catalog run you can disregard the 2018 frames catalog (horizontal
layout, illustrated cover).

Thanks to all for the help and if anyone has information to contribute or
theories to disprove please let me know.

I've considered it and think it would be valuable to those interested. Some
great articles and gear not to mention heartbreaking prices of yore.

Do you host the readers archive?

I'm unsure what's missing and hopeful that some stray members can help
fill in the gaps. At this point I'm trying to get some kind of record of
what I'm missing. I would be interested to purchase missing catalogs as
 well.

This is tricky as the catalogs were dated, then dated and numbered,
then dated, and then numbered. From what I can tell I am missing the first
catalog and perhaps another somewhere down the line.

Things get fuzzy late in the run. Catalog 19 is undated but has a the
tweed Nigel Smythe borders of the previous two catalogs, suggesting
somewhere around 2007. I had assumed that the undated 20th catalog (black
and white cover) is the most recent. But then there's the 2018 bicycles
 and
frames catalog which is unnumbered, suggesting this is the 21st.

Thanks again for input and wisdom.
