Yeah! That's the way to do it, Patrick.

I took my kids to the local school park when there was a dusting of snow.
Sleigh rides by mammoth are the best.

2016-02-01 Thread BSWP
Sorry Patrick, I was making an obscure reference to a topical development
in international cylocross competition. A Belgian woman is suspected of
racing a bicycle fitted with an electric motor in its bottom bracket. Many
news sources covering it. Also in today's BikeSnobNYC post.

And no, I'm not a fan of e-bikes. They're just a new form of motorized
transport.

2016-02-01 Thread Shoji Takahashi
Hi Patrick,
I, too, miss your pics to Flickr. I'm glad to see them on that blog post.

I think Andrew is referring to the "mechanical doping" in the cyclocross
races this past weekend. (There was a hidden motor found in one of the
bicycles of a U23 Belgian rider.)

I could use a mechanical assist with the winter studded tires. I'm tempted
(but too lazy) to swap out to my regular tires during this 60+ spell that's
come over the Boston area.

Tailwinds,
Shoji

2016-02-01 Thread EGNolan
Deac,
I think Andrew was referring to technological doping, putting a motor in
your frame to help with what your legs can't handle.
http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest-news/motor-found-in-belgian-cyclo-cross-bike-a-disgrace-says-national-cycling-coach-209504

I doubt you need it, a little extra to slog through just adds to the
enjoyment, right?

Best,
Eric

Andrew, what's a Belgian BB and how would it help overcome rear wheel
inertia due to snowpack?

The vast majority of inertia was from the snow on the ground. When I was on
plowed road, the riding was easy.
