Yeah! That's the way to do it, Patrick. I took my kids to the local school park when there was a dusting of snow. [RBW] Re: Crankin' through the snow...
Sorry Patrick, I was making an obscure reference to a topical development in international cylocross competition. A Belgian woman is suspected of racing a bicycle fitted with an electric motor in its bottom bracket. Many news sources covering it. Also in today's BikeSnobNYC post. And no, I'm not a fan of e-bikes. They're just a new form of motorized transport. - Andrew, Berkeley On Monday, February 1, 2016 at 12:19:51 PM UTC-8, Deacon Patrick wrote: > > Andrew, what's a Belgian BB and how would it help overcome rear wheel > inertia due to snowpack? > > The vast majority of inertia was from the snow on the ground. [RBW] Re: Crankin' through the snow...
Hi Patrick, I, too, miss your pics to Flickr. I'm glad to see them on that blog post. I think Andrew is referring to the "mechanical doping" in the cyclocross races this past weekend. (There was a hidden motor found in one of the bicycles of a U23 Belgian rider.) I could use a mechanical assist with the winter studded tires. I'm tempted (but too lazy) to swap out to my regular tires during this 60+ spell that's come over the Boston area. [RBW] Re: Crankin' through the snow...
Deac, I think Andrew was referring to technological doping, putting a motor in your frame to help with what your legs can't handle. http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest-news/motor-found-in-belgian-cyclo-cross-bike-a-disgrace-says-national-cycling-coach-209504 I doubt you need it, a little extra to slog through just adds to the enjoyment, right? [RBW] Re: Crankin' through the snow...
Andrew, what's a Belgian BB and how would it help overcome rear wheel inertia due to snowpack? The vast majority of inertia was from the snow on the ground. When I was on plowed road, the riding was easy. With abandon, Patrick On Monday, February 1, 2016 at 1:06:41 PM UTC-7, BSWP wrote: > > That snow looks pretty well packed into the rear wheel. That snow looks pretty well packed into the rear wheel. I wonder if a Belgian Bottom Bracket would help overcome the added inertia? - Andrew, Berkeley On Monday, February 1, 2016 at 10:21:55 AM UTC-8, Deacon Patrick wrote: > > What a hoot! Patrick: I get "crazy!" a lot too. I think we've gone soft as a people. Way too civilized. Grin. Ccanter: Absolutely! Erl: I've not had much to post, as I've just done a few rides recently when the brain cooperated. It's hopefully in an "upswing" now. If so ... more rides = more photos! Grin.
