I have always heard them referred to a "P clamps" or "Adel clamps"
regardless of size.

Alan,

this is a nice looking bike, did you paint the fenders yourself?

And i think those clamps for the rear lights are called R-clamps, i
think the bigger ones are p-clamps? Or someone can explain that to
me, this is a great idea, i might steal it for one of my bikes.

b) Neither. I tape it to the side, about 4 o'clock.

c) Small front rack, but not for the light, that'd be stupid. I'm now

Beth:

a. Two Spanningas mounted on SKS plastic fenders, one for several
years now...no problems.
b. NA
c. Have not mounted front lights on a rack...thought about it but
haven't done it.

2011-01-19 Thread Stonehog
a) I mounted mine to the large Wald basket.
b) underside - taped
c) fork crown mount

I removed a VO Constructeur rack as it doesn't have a front mount bracket.
This setup is on my Riv'd Miyata MTB winter commuter.

[RBW] Re: Generator lighting questions

2011-01-18 Thread EricP
a. my Fargo has a PDW FenderBot on Planet Bike fenders. Been there
since the fall. Lots of dirt road riding.
b. it's battery, so no wires.
c. the Hillborne has a light attached to a front rack. My LHT has the
light on the fork crown without a front rack for protection. Both
bikes have fenders. I do use the front rack on that Hillborne with a
Lil' Loafer.

[RBW] Re: Generator lighting questions

2011-01-18 Thread Thomas Lynn Skean
Hmmm... throw out my response if it doesn't qualify...
I've had a Spanninga SPxba on an SKS P50 fender for over a year and
over 3000 miles... and another over 6months and over 2000 miles... all
weather... both still function perfectly

Now those are *battery* lights (so, I'm assuming actually heavier and
more vulnerable than generator version) and those are "chromoplastic"
fenders (plastic aluminum sandwich, presumably stronger than pure
plastic). Either difference may disqualify me from your study. :) But
I'm so pleased with these auto on/off lights that I took the
opportunity to mention the setup. I put in freshly charged batteries
every other week and always have a light. Could probably do once a
month.

Yours,
Thomas Lynn Skean
