[RBW] Re: Good Error Resolution from Alex's Cycle in Japan
The main reason is that the Yen has plummeted -- in 2012 one dollar traded at 76 yen and now it's at 125, a 64% increase. If you buy directly you get the benefit of the exchange rate. I'm guessing the domestic wholesalers and retailers are hesitant to adjust prices down, betting that they will rise again and thus confusing consumers. Also, if they are carrying inventory, they may have purchased at a higher price. The duty on most bike parts is not high and on some pieces it's zero (e.g. cranksets). I'll add to the sentiment . .. . buying Local need not mean your physical home anymore . I consider buying Like country manufactured stuff from Like country Local . In fact as I have no physical source anywhere near my home for such things , having them sent in the mail is far more efficient than driving a car an hour or more each way to a random location where I would never go otherwise. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Ah, yes; but which option did you take? The 27R (AKA 700c rear Campee w/detachable lowrider racks) for $110 is a crazy-cheap deal. So, that's a good business making an honest mistake and making it right when given the opportunity to do so. i'm going to guess that Bill took the additional racks :) This is a great example of a small company doing something that makes sense. Not sure if option A or B is better financially for Alex's (i.e. they lose less money on one or the other), but both are worth tons of customer good-will. I recently ordered a nitto rack from them that I couldn't get elsewhere. It arrived from Japan so quickly I couldn't believe it, and the shipping wasn't THAT expensive, either. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
