[RBW] Re: Look at my lugs!

2015-12-08 Thread Leslie
Several times on the Creeper and on the Greenbelt, I've had lots of
complements on 'em, but the one that stood out the most was once while
riding the Ram on our Greenbelt, my daughter and I'd passed an older
gentleman heading out, then met him again on our return leg as he rested on
a bench as we passed, he called out "I love Grant Petersen's designs!";
much to my daughter's chagrin, I had to pull up and turn around to chat w/
the fella for a bit... he'd previously run a bikeshop, had retired from
such.

Another similar story, I had the Bomba on Ocracoke; earlier in the week, I
had it locked up at various shops in the village, where it'd been noticed
closely. Near the end of the week, while riding through the campground
(again with my daughter), a fella came running out from his netting
shelter, calling out "My brother used to work for Paul's Components";
again to the chagrin of my daughter, I turned around and had to chat...
he'd even noticed the brakes on my bike. He's one of the Hunt brothers,
had left Cali and moved to Charlotte...

Yeah, Rivendells are not a bike to ride if you want to blend in

Don't you love it when someone admires your bike? Appreciates it for the wonder
it really is? Warm and fuzzy inside!

I still get congratulated on a very nice beach cruiser. And how DO I get up
that hill with no gears? Sigh...
