Yowza, Edward! That's a really beautiful build. I love the flash of red

The HiHo silver looks wonderful, and will be a neutral enough palette to
absorb plenty of colorful bits. It is nice to see a different color on the
Sam. I’ve seen the LimeOlive on the Clem L, and it is dazzling in
sunlight. Both color options play well with the cream highlight paint, and
you can hardly go wrong with either. Looks like only the 57 in LimeOlive
has sold out at this point. HiHo……!

I'm not looking to buy a Sam, but I just glanced at the size
chart on Instagram, and, wow, the sizing has changed dramatically
 over the
years. My PBH is 82cm. That puts me on a 51cm Sam for this current
 batch.
When I test rode one of the originals with caliper brakes, it was
 a 56cm I
believe, and it fit perfectly. I haven't kept up with the geometry
 changes,
but I'd really like to see what it's like to ride a 51cm frame and
 be at
the top end of a size range for once. I bet the reach would be
 sublime.

48cm, 1 silver, 6 olive
51cm, 5 silver, 8 olive
54cm, 1 silver, 5 olive

Seem to be selling way faster than the Platys (assuming a similar # of

Might have been me?

I got a Silver 54 as well. First Riv.
Excited and relieved.

I wonder how they are moving this round.

My PBH is 82cm. That puts me on a 51cm Sam for this current batch.
 When I
test rode one of the originals with caliper brakes, it was a 56cm I
believe, and it fit perfectly. I haven't kept up with the geometry
 changes,
but I'd really like to see what it's like to ride a 51cm frame and be
 at
the top end of a size range for once. I bet the reach would be sublime.

I'll be interested to see how quickly these move. The Hillbornes are such
great bikes, adaptable for many purposes. I could definitely see the paint
colors this round getting buyers excited. Nothing against 'em but the RBW
blue, orange and harvest gold didn't do much for me. New colors are rel
good.

I agree with Joe on this one. If a mixte/step-thru isn't for you then the

I am planning to grab a 54cm one to replace my 2019 homer (58cm). haven't

will be whipping up a sales post later but if anyone browsing might have
interest in the homer let me know. it's a sublime ride with swept back bars
but i want to try out a sam.

I'm not looking to buy a Sam, but I just glanced at the size chart on
Instagram, and, wow, the sizing has changed dramatically over the years. My
PBH is 82cm. That puts me on a 51cm Sam for this current batch. When I test
rode one of the originals with caliper brakes, it was a 56cm I believe, and
it fit perfectly. I haven't kept up with the geometry changes, but I'd

For the voracious and anxious waiters of shipping containers: I've
stumbled upon a Rivendell Sam Hillborne catalog. It's from one of the
sidepull brake variants of the Sam Hillborne. If anybody wants it, let me
know and I can mail it to whomever.

2022-12-01 Thread Ryan Stanis
Confirmed in the email sent out today, no geo changes from last batch. My
2018 Sam is 26.8, so as previously stated, not a new development for the
frame. Wish I didn't already have one, the lime olive is quite possibly my
favorite riv color I've seen, second maybe to the green Hunqapillars.

[RBW] Re: New Sam Hillbornes

2022-12-01 Thread 'John Hawrylak' via RBW Owners Bunch
2 stand outs on this batch of Sam H's from the geo chart:

The seatpost is a 26.8mm, NOT a more standard 27.2mm. This indicates the
28.6mm seattube wall thickness is 0.8mm vs a more standard 0.7. The
Butted section wall is probably 1.1mm or thicker. Seems like Grant likes
thicker walls at the BB, as has been mentioned in a previous post. I do
not recall a 26.8mm seatpost in the past for the Sam H.

The Chain Stay LENGTH varies from 45.5cm (near standard) for a 48/51cm
frame to 48.5cm for a 60cm frame. Seems RBW is trying to locate everyone
at the same spot along the chain stay. This was mentioned in a previous
post, but in a funny way. Seems like they decided to go with it. Tall
riders may feel a change. Short riders less so.

Re: [RBW] Re: New Sam Hillbornes

2022-12-01 Thread EGNolan
Brian asked "Anyone want to take any bets on whether or not they've made
any changes to the geometry and sizes available?"

My best guess, based on the location of the chainstay indentions is that
they've increased those to more closely match the rest of the lineup. I've
got a LCS (long chainstay) Cheviot, which I absolutely love, and a more
normal, but lengthy for the time Bleriot, which I also absolutely love. I
imagine there will be some folks bummed at not having shorter chainstay
options, but we all saw this coming (and they may have even said as much at
some point and I either didn't see it or forgot about it).

I might try to pick up a used dark gold Sam sometime in the next year or
