Add my thanks to Gino and Jim for organizing and keeping us on track. I had a ton of fun...great to meet folks and see all the bikes. Of course I remember the bikes more than names, but that's an ok way to organize stuff in your head, right? As in, That guy on the Trek is sexy! and That guy on the Toei climbs like a fiend. I took a few photos, but not as many as I thought. Apparently I need a pencam. And the photos are mostly of bikes instead of people. http://tinyurl.com/yfyd5un Sadly, not a single portrait of the purple Ram. There is free, all-day parking on the north end of the bridge, in the lot on the west (Headlands) side. That's where I park for the SFR 200K, and you just have to roll across the GG Bridge to the meeting point. The main hill on the route will be the White's Hill climb out of Fairfax. Hmmm... this Southern Californian *might* be up there that weekend too, visiting family. SoCal NorCal Riv Riders might invade Mid- Cal. Seriously - I would LOVE to make it if possible. Great route! If it is easier for everyone, I'm fine with changing the start point to Mike's Bikes there in Sausalito. It's easier for me. What do folks think? I like riding across the Bridge! I vote to start on SF side of the GG. Great Idea! I'd like to make it, and think I probably can. Now to ponder which bike,.. what wheel size, etc. Phil B --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: NorCal Riv ride: Sunday October 18th
I just penciled it in. We're due to return from a two week out of state in-law visit that same weekend. If we return Saturday eve, then I'll be there. Nothing like a run out to the Pt. to beat the just-came-back-from-the-in-law's blues! (Jst kidding, dear……) RS --- On Wed, 9/9/09, Gino Zahnd ginoza...@gmail.com wrote: From: Gino Zahnd ginoza...@gmail.com Subject: [RBW] NorCal Riv ride: Sunday October 18th To: rbw-owners-bunch@googlegroups.com Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 8:21 PM I'm taking a stab on the date here, but Jim said nearly any Sunday, and this is his idea. :-) Event: NorCal™ Rivendell Ride Date: Sunday, October 18 Start: Golden Gate bridge, south toll plaza lot Time: 9:00am Distance: 75 miles or so Route: (just the part to Pt. Reyes Station and back on these documents) map: http://sfrandonneurs.org/assets/downloads/200kmap.pdf cue sheet: http://sfrandonneurs.org/assets/downloads/200kcuesheet.pdf Description: See the cue sheet and map, which contains an elevation profile. It's an out-and-back, so if you don't want to do the whole thing, it's easy to turn back at any point. Nicely maintained gravel is an option for a small bit of this ride. There is a brewery and coffee roaster in Fairfax, which is about half way to Pt. Reyes Station. There's a great bakery in Pt. Reyes Station that serves sweet and/or savory stuff (including pizza), and vegan stuff; it's a great lunch stop. There are other food options on the street in Pt. Reyes Station if you for some reason are anti-baker. Bring your pals, especially if they ride a carbonium bike. See you there! Side Note: For those interested, October 17 is the Lion of Fairfax cyclocross race in Fairfax. I'm racing it, and I'm going to do my best to convince Jim Edgar, and some of my Team Paul teammates to race as well.
