I cant delete the entire post/thread if someone has posted response publicly.
Only my posts in the thread. But not the whole thread/post.

Would be great to be able to remove my whole post after sale.

I presently have two pearl stems for sale, a nitto decaleur and a Synergy rear
wheelset for sale.

I generally update a post with what has sold and what is available as well
as any price drops. The last big purge I did once everything sold I deleted
the post so I wouldn't receive inquiries and to unclog the list.

It's a good practice.

[RBW] Re: OLD FS Posts

2017-09-11 Thread Bill Lindsay
I imagine our email-only users have it even worse. Typically our email
users make a FS post, and then when the item sells, they don't reply to
their own post. Typically they just email a new post that says "Item X is
sold, thanks" in the subject line which starts a new, separate thread for
all the rest of us who view the list as a webpage. I imagine those folks
get a lot of emails saying "is Item X still available?" because there's no
way to know that it's sold when you search the history.

[RBW] Re: OLD FS Posts

2017-09-11 Thread Philip Williamson
I like when the old FS posts are left up (with a final SOLD post), for two
reasons. Three reasons.
1. It helps people price their own hard-to-price for sale items.
2. Seeing the "This message has been deleted" on a grayed-out post
distresses me. It usually means someone was WAY out of hand, but sometimes
people seem to just delete their posts for no reason. Bugs my OCD.
3. Many FS posts spin out into very interesting comparisons and deep
knowledge of very esoteric parts or Rivendell history.

My three cents,
