[RBW] Re: OT-Cool Lugged bike for 7 year old (has to be girly)

2013-04-16 Thread Leslie
We bought the smallest Trek Skye for my daughter a couple of years ago (she
was 9 at the time). She was wanting a purple or pink bike too. We headed
into the LBS to see what they had, and there in stock was the right size
bike in a metallic gray, with the decal for it in pink... although she was
picturing a pink bike, she really liked this one (possibly because it was
'right there', versus 'still looking'. But she still likes it. And, the
price wasn't bad; even though it was an inexpensive bike, it isn't bad at
all, it actually quite good.

I would like to see her on a little Betty Foy, but, I can't quite justify
that for a kids' bike.

Elephant made a bike for a gal, that I thought was outright awesome. It
would be one that I'd be happy to see her on. Again, tho' I'm sure it
wouldn't have been anywhere near as cost-effective as the Trek was...

stick. To add to the challenge my daughter is a princess and wont be seen
on something not pink or purple and sparkly. So I could get something
intended for a boy and get re-spray but I know there are a good bit of
parents on here who might have a better idea. Cali said she wants a bike
like daddys, not like the ones she sees in walmart, made me smile.

PS: the nice thing about the Trek, when we first got it, we slammed the
seat down, then raised it a little, to get the right saddle height. But w/
the post all the way up to the extension line, even I could ride it (and
I'm six-foot-tall). So, it's a bike that she can use through college most
likely.

Is your daughter a 'tall' seven-year-old?

2013-04-16 Thread Peter Morgano
She is not particularly tall for her age but is moving past themed stuff
like Disney princesses and whatnot and could probably be talked into a
somewhat normal looking bike. I was also thinking of a folding bike since
then tend to have low profiles, anyone's kid ever grow with a decent
folding bike?
