Re: [RBW] Re: Pics of my new Hunqapillar...and a question about handlebar bags
Thanks, James! Yeah, I know that I am indeed lucky to have a wife with an appreciative eye for these details. My wife actually had her eye on the Hunqapillar, way before I ever test rode any of their bikes. But, she already got a Betty Foy mixte and a Quick Beam ss, and loves both of them...and she felt it was my turn to get my own Riv. Yeah, I am very lucky. LOL Joe, trust me, I understand about the decimated wallet! My wife encouraged me to give the Riv bikes test rides for at least a couple of months. I kept saying, No, that's okay, because I knew what might happen. Well, I finally succumbed...and this is the result! And I couldn't be happier. This bag was designed for your style of bar, http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FMBHP I know it it not teed or what not, but is the original bullmoose solution as far as I know Rob - http://oceanaircycles.com/ . [RBW] Re: Pics of my new Hunqapillar...and a question about handlebar bags
Hi Eric, Thanks for your comments, information, and suggestions. The Jandd Mountain Handle Pack seems to be almost perfect for what I was looking for. I've owned Jandd packs before, and they're a good value for nicely designed, well made, nylon bike packs. Of course, they're not nearly as nice as Riv's Sackville, Brand V, and tweed bags...but, for the occasional times that I would be using this pack(longer rides and such), it's at about the right price point. Thanks again. Hi Joe, Thanks for your kind comments. When my wife finally talked me into test riding a few of their bikes, I was originally planning on getting the Yves Gomez mixte. But, I fell in love with the looks, ride, and handling of the Hunqapillar(and, yes, I was digging the wooly mammoth headbadge!). I loved the smooth and powerful feel of the high profile cantilever brakes, and the Bullmoose bar has got to be the most beautiful handlebar that I've ever seen. And the sweepback places the grips in your hands at a very natural and comfortable angle. Steering and handling with this bar is superb. If you haven't already, you really owe it to yourself to give the Hunqapillar a test ride. C'mon, Joe, Riv HQ is only a thirty minute drive from Fairfield! *lol* Geoff -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Hi japhilip, Thanks for posting the pic of your Jandd Mountain Handle Pack I, nicely mounted on the Bullmoose bar of your gorgeous Bombadil. I love the ergonomically shaped wood grips! They look great and complement your cockpit really well. So, the top straps attach to the cross bars that form the 'v', right? And the lower strap attaches around the stem...? Thanks, again! The Jandd Mountain Handle Pack I looks to have been specifically designed for the original Tom Ritchey Bullmoose bar. I googled the pack after seeing your post. [RBW] Re: Pics of my new Hunqapillar...and a question about handlebar bags
Thank you for posting photos of your 54cm I've been wanting to see that particular size built up for quite some time minus the diagonal tubes of the larger sized frames. Nice stout looking, versatile bike. It appears you could ride it for a lifetime and configure it any number of ways. I've been thinking about one after my recent Simple One purchase to replace a lesser quality frame that I currently ride. [RBW] Re: Pics of my new Hunqapillar...and a question about handlebar bags
Thanks. Yes two straps to the crossbar and one to the stem. It works pretty well with a dirt drop stem and drop bar as well if you have no room for a standard bag. See here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32919632@N04/5595562578/in/set-72157622612630568 The wood grips were too slippery and I've since changed to Ergons on the Bullmoose bars. Hi John, Thanks for the confirmation, and thanks for posting the pic showing the side view. Much appreciated! [RBW] Re: Pics of my new Hunqapillar...and a question about handlebar bags
Hi Charlie, My pleasure. It is a nicely stout frame, somewhere between the Atlantis and the Bombadil. I'm really only a fitness and recreational rider, and will find myself almost solely on black top and other smoothly paved roads...so I probably didn't really need as stout a bike for my intended purpose. In fact, when I was done test riding the Betty Foy, Hunqapillar(w/moustache bar), and Atlantis(w/bullmoose bar), and I told Riv guy Vince that I had decided on the Hunq, he asked if I didn't think that the Sam Hillborne would be able to serve my needs just as well(and be a slightly lighter bike, and for a bit less money). I told him that I was sure that the Sam would be just fine, but that I just really liked the looks of the Hunq, the feel of the high profile canti brakes, and the Bullmoose bar for its looks, ergonomics, and setup. I just knew that it was the right bike for me. The Hunqapillar is definitely versatile, and you could set it up in a bunch of different ways...a great all rounder bike. Hey Geoff - You could always put a nitto mini front rack and saddlesack small on the front of the bike - wouldn't be as high as the handlebars, but would be on the front of the bike. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. The seat bag (both vegan and non-vegan) work fine as a small handlebar bag on bullmoose: http://www.rivbike.com/products/show/brand-v-seat-bag/20-196 If you want something bigger, the bar tube http://www.rivbike.com/products/show/brand-v-bar-tube/20-197 will work too. jim m wc ca On Jul 2, 6:02 pm, Geoff mocha...@hotmail.com wrote: Has anyone here with Bullmoose bars found a handlebar bag that works well with it? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Great looking bike, and the Betty Foy, too! I'm just making things up, here, but it looks like the Seat Bag would work genius on your bullmoose bars. [RBW] Re: Pics of my new Hunqapillar...and a question about handlebar bags
Nice looking bike. As noted, the Jandd is designed for bullmoose bars. It is an old (for mountain biking) design. Used to use a Rhode Gear version many years ago. The bar tube would work. As would a Hobo Bag. Might even be able to rig a tweed seat pouch (aka Bannana bag) to work. Makes me think - although the Duluth Pack version of the hobo bag has the straps on the wrong side, that could be the correct side if you put it on top of the bars.
