Surlyprof, thanks for the mention of 2 pockets. I had gotten the earlier
one with the inner toggle, and when the second one I bought came with a
flap instead, I never thought to look under it for a pocket.

Speaking of things I didn’t know, I discarded the Coroplast stiffener out
of my first one thinking it was just packing material.

Elegant solution. I've used my banana sax for several days now & not
noticed any problem. I think it is narrow enough at the front to not have
this problem. I used to use a hobo bag as a saddle bag & it was an issue.
Solved by anchoring the bottom of the bag to the rack so it was spaced back
a bit.

All Carradice-type saddlebags (and Rivendell's are all variations on this
theme) gently nuzzle the backs of your thighs as you pedal; I quickly got
used to it. But you can make a standoff out of PVC pipe or a piece of scrap
wood.

I had bought a gray one about a year ago not knowing that they had added
the internal flap. That, and the 2 internal pockets that are great for
small things like a multitool and levers have made it my favorite bag. I
still hang on to my small Sackville but it has been gathering dust since I
picked up Banana Sax. Great bag.
