Thank you... I like it.

The handlebars are flipped Albatross (with the ends cut down due to my
thick thighs that like to hit the bar-ends). I tried using Moustache
initially, but the stretch was too much for my vertically challenged body.

+1 on the Gino Light Mount. I use them mounted on the side of my front

believe you can mount them on the fork braze on as well but my have to
change bolt size. Can't remember for sure.

We don't get that much rain in these parts and usually know the season when
it's going to hit. My Hillborne has been fenderless for almost two years
since I got a fendered Brompton for commuting. I swap wheelsets often and
fenderless allows for gravel fun with Smart

However, aesthetically, I do think the Hillborne looks classier with the

Dude, low "path racer" bars on a double-tube Bombadil. That's sweet!

I no longer own this bike, but for a while it had no fenders or racks. I can’t
speak to riding it in rain without fenders because I never did.

Re: [RBW] Re: Riding without fenders on Rivs reviews needed.

2018-05-19 Thread Patrick Moore
Patrick FWIW, back when I had my Race Lite, I combined off-the-shelf
"motocross-style" f and r fenders* with ~5" strips of stiff, black plastic
zip tied to bottom of down tube and rear of seat tube, in effect continuing
coverage for the vestigial commercial fenders. Of course, this didn't work
as well as full Honjos, but it kept a great deal more mud off of me and the
bike than just the "moto-x" fenders.

* Much like these. I see that this bike also has a second rear fender under
the seatpost-mounted one; my plastic did similar duty.

2018-05-19 Thread d2mini
I couldn't have a commuter without fenders.

But for sure a sunny day bike. Wouldn't mind the occasional unavoidable
puddle.

SKS MudX front fender. Blocks all face spash up to a certain air speed, at
point my face catches up with the front spray. See it here (or in any of my
posts, really). Also works great on the thinner QB.
