I've gone through all those permutations, including Bullmoose, on my AR
over the past two decades. Have short arms/torso which makes positioning
problematic. Eventually settled back onto drops, but this time VO
Randonneurs. For me it was the lack of hand positions on long tours that
killed the Bullmoose. With the moustache bars it was the too low position
without having the stem up around your chin. I rode with Noodles for years
but the VO Randonneurs with their long reach and palm-filling slight uplift
on the straight sections was the clincher. Plus the shallow drop allowed an
on-the-drops climbing steep dirt grades position that was comfortable but
allowed a wee bit of stretch for a sore back. Don't think I'll be going
back for the duration.

2018-11-30 Thread Tony DeFilippo
Great looking bike! So long as the fixed reach in the bullmoose works for you I
don't see any reason it won't work. The Riv AR really is a sweet frame and
represents such a neat moment at the start of Rivendell. I'm always a sucker
for the Riv headbadge to.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the compliments on my AR. And the advice on the bullmoose. I like
the modern version so we’ll see if it works out.

2018-11-29 Thread Erik from Saint Paul
Addison,

You're Allrounder is such an awesome bike, I love the color! I lived in
Reno from '05-'09 and know how many amazing places there are to ride. The
bullmoose bars Rivendell sells are a little different from the stock
bullmoose bars on an '84 Stumpjumper I used to own. It looks like the newer
bars sweep back a little more and are wider. The old-school bullmoose bars
worked well for me on various terrain and I would definitely consider using
the newer version on a future build. My only gripe was due to the lack of
hand positions, after about 20 miles of riding I'd get a little stiff and
need to stretch.
