Thanks to you too.
I enjoyed looking at the different components you used to create your work
of art.

Please bring this wonderful beast to Maine this summer. I'll have to ride
it like I stole it ;)
See you when you get here. We'll plan another ride to Scratch Bakery or
maybe Ohno Cafe.

2018-02-26 Thread Surlyprof
Beautiful reimagining of your Hillborne, Tim. Mine is set up similarly but
I still love that blue and cream color scheme the best. The bicycle looks
so classy with the blue and tan accents and I've always loved the double
tt. Barlow Pass tires on a Sam are fantastic. It feels like your gliding
more than riding.

Enjoy those spring and summer rides.

Great bike and great photos too! Love those brakes and fenders. This is
why I wish to be tall enough for a double TT.
It's always wise to heed the Deacon.

[RBW] Re: Sam Hillborne Reimagined

2018-02-25 Thread Austin
Beautiful build Tim--your post in a word is: Inspiring!

Part of my affliction, (er "hobby") is reimagining how my bikes are
configured. Having 3 bikes, I am constantly swapping out parts, testing &
learning. riding, and standing back to admire what I've created. It helps
to keep my n+1 desires in check and is very much in line with Patrick's
sentiment. One of the things I like about Rivendell in general and the Sam
in particular is how well these bikes take to my tinkering. And outside of
truing a wheel or making frame repairs, I'm a self-sufficient bike mechanic
as a result. I learn so much and get so many ideas reading post from people
on this group.

If it ever stops raining here in Maryland today, I'm getting out on my
identically-framed 2TT 62cm Sam. Until then, I'll be out in the garage...

Cheers,
Austin
