Manny:
What you are doing isn't nutty at all. Often the same shot can look
entirely different over time.
One of my touring buds did a Vermont fall tour so he could photo the
spectacular colors. Since it can happen over a few weeks, he booked the
tour for consecutive weeks to guarantee his chances of good photos. As
luck would have it, the first week was fabulous, with all the colors at
their max. The weather change quickly enough that by the time he repeated
the same loop a week later, all the leaves had fallen. He made a point of
duplicating the previous week's photos at the same spots. It made for a
set of remarkable photos, with some so different that he had to point out
some point of identity to link the two photos.

If you don't know, I take tons of shots while biking. Majority of my shots
aren't very good. Every once in a while I get lucky. Most of the time I'm
shooting because I'm bored. Looking over my photos I find that I like a
handful of particular shots at the same places. Over the course of a
handful of years I find myself taking the same shot. Sometimes I take
a conscience effort to take the same shots. Sometimes I just take the shot
not realizing that I've taken countless of shots like this before. I love
the beauty of the fact that despite the same shot, the experience is
different every time. It just goes to shot you that guy Einstein was right,
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different
results.
Here are a handful of shots over the years.
Pictures Proved I scoured for hours looking the same shots.
