nice! i was so tempted by albatross. I had them on my Sam, but kept
slipping forward to the bends with a 110mm stem. On the Cheviot it was much
better.

[RBW] Re: Share Hunq Build / pics and ideas?

2016-06-10 Thread Shoji Takahashi
Hi Kevin,
The fenders are VO Stainless Steel 60mm Fenders, 26" ATB. Good clearance
with Compass RTP and Big Bens. (I haven't tried knobbies. The terrain that
I ride doesn't require them.)

I have moustache bars on now. For me, it's a good compromise bar for
commuting and riding with kids. I do miss the Noodles on the Hunq-- maybe
I'll swap to them soon.

Also-- the Noodles are great with a front basket. With my short headtube,
the Moustache bar doesn't really work with front basket.

[RBW] Re: Share Hunq Build / pics and ideas?

2016-06-10 Thread Kevin Lindsey
I'm currently running drop bars on my Hunq and find they work very well. I
originally set the bike up with Mustache bars and a Dirt Drop stem; they
worked wonderfully and were extremely comfortable, but they were ugly and
slow in a high wind (due to the very upright riding posture). Chiefly for
aesthetic reasons, I therefore decided to go for drop bars (Nitto Noodles);
I think a Hunq is much prettier in that configuration, it's easier to move
in and out of crowded bike racks, and it seems to run a bit faster
(although I'm willing to concede that any perceived increase in speed might
be my imagination; even if not, the idea of using the words "Hunq" and
"faster" in the same sentence seems somehow ungrammatical). It feels as
comfortable as it did with the Mustache bars and, on the whole, I'll
probably stick to the drops.

Here is another shot of the dirt drop Hunq, showing (I think) the IRD
equivalent of the genavale levers/controls.

I also was just in Gravel & Grind yesterday and saw a Hunq they are setting
up with a Jones stem and Bar, and it looked great.
