[RBW] Re: Slightly OT; WTB BURLEY PICCOLO

2016-06-03 Thread Rory C
I've used the Burley Piccolo, and loved it. I've done something that i
haven't seen before, which is put a bobike on the rear of it:
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=6D4B7101C5594AAB!378220=!ANC21PdhIQvAFoU=3=photo%2cjpg

this is an easier way of pulling kids around town then the full blown
chariot trailer. I've also put a B trailermatic, which allows a rear dyno
light to be plugged in for the trailer. the trailermatic i feel is a must
for anyone with a dynohub and a trailer.

Thanks Eric and Jeremy. I may order an extra for another bike. Even if he
outgrows the Piccolo in another year, that will still leave me with one
useful, bombproof rack.

The Moose racks (bought recently) do have a threaded hole in the center for
the bolt on our (new, not MUSA) Piccolo to attach to. I don't know if the
old model had a different attachment, but I can confirm that the racks DO
have a bolt hole.

It's one of my all-time favorite bicycle accessories. That's dad, Mack, and
Clementine at the farmers market last week. (I knew there was a reason I
didn't ditch that old Pearl Izumi rain jacket!) On the topic, I would like
to get a second Moose, and they now are listed as compatible with the old
made in USA Piccolos, but the photo does not look like it has the hole that
the bolt screws into. It is admittedly not from a great angle (why only one
product shot?) Does anybody know for sure if the new Moose will work with
vintage Piccolos? Although looking at this photo, though only six and a
half, he is starting to look big on this thing, I think I already have the
handlebars all the way to the max line, but still a bit of room in the seat
post.

[RBW] Re: Slightly OT; WTB BURLEY PICCOLO

2016-05-17 Thread Jeremy Tavan
I hope you enjoy the Piccolo. My family has really enjoyed ours - my son is
really excited about going out riding and keeps up a running commentary
about which gear he's in. We've now got the Burley racks on both my Clem
and my wife's Clementine, so we can trade off towing him on family trips,
or either one of us can do individual trips. It's been very cool. I
understand that one can buy a front wheel for it and turn it into a full
bike - that should be a good next step.

Hello Eric,

Hope the Piccolo and tandem work out for you. I had the same set up when my
two sons were younger, but I've sold the Piccolo since they out grew it. I
always liked the bull moose rack which comes with the Piccolo, very stable
and a much better mounting system than attaching to the seat post like
other trailer bikes do.

Good luck,
JohnS
