Funny, I was so excited to get the bike, I never went back and watched the

I've uploaded two to Vimeo. The first is sideways, sorry. The second ends
spectacularly, with me waving my arms (and the phone) to get the attention of
the police.

Good to hear that from a local. Even a fence would not dump a stolen bike for

such a shop is a value to the community.  Still, it bears looking into.

Maybe the homeless man would have been clueless, but the thief would have
noticed. Especially if the bike was secured with a compact u-lock.

Once you have a significant tube u-locked to a bike rack, the frame is

My U lock is 1.6 pounds. The pits weigh less than regular skewers. It
works.

Re: [RBW] Re: Stolen Rambouillet UPDATE!

2015-06-23 Thread George Schick
IIRC, a few years ago the people at Rivendell sent an e-mail with a link to
a database where we could enter all pertinent info about bikes we bought
from them, including date purchased, dealer name, model, etc., AND serial
number. I'm not sure what ever happened to all that info, but if we filled
it out, and our bike was stolen, couldn't we call or e-mail them to get the
serial number?

Well now that you have it back... put pitlocks on the wheels and seatpost.
It will cost $100 to do it, but once done, a thief cannot sell your bike
with secured wheels and seatpost without an outrageous story.

No one will buy a bike that has unfixable flats. Every potential buyer will
notice during the illicit purchase that the seatpost cannot be adjusted.

It's good insurance.

Add a compact U lock and your bike is secure. Been there.
