Funny, I was so excited to get the bike, I never went back and watched the videos. I've uploaded two to Vimeo. The first is sideways, sorry. The second ends spectacularly, with me waving my arms (and the phone) to get the attention of the police. https://vimeo.com/131997459 https://vimeo.com/131997589 Sent from my iPhone On Jun 27, 2015, at 22:17, Lungimsam john11.2...@gmail.com wrote: May we see some of that video? Good to hear that from a local. Even a fence would not dump a stolen bike for $30! I have always favored independent store owners -- like bike shops -- and such a shop is a value to the community. Maybe the homeless man would have been clueless, but the thief would have noticed. Especially if the bike was secured with a compact u-lock. Once you have a significant tube u-locked to a bike rack, the frame is secure, the rest is noise. My U lock is 1.6 pounds. The pits weigh less than regular skewers. It works. [RBW] Re: Stolen Rambouillet UPDATE!
WaitI'm still jealous that someone scored a Rivendell for $30. Doesn't he know he needs to to agonize over every decision from frame size to component choice for months, posting here multiple times, and calling Rivendell at least a dozen times to get a large enough sample of opinions from the employees there to make an educated decision, only to wonder 'what if' once you get the bike that took what seemed like 5 years to build and come in ?!?!?!? Well I never I mean, congrats on getting the bike back ;) What a happy ending. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Johnny: Very cool! I used to work downtown, and would ride this blue Ram to work very often (to the corner of 3rd and Market). Fantastic! I wonder if the guy in possession stole it or he bought it from the guy who stole it. Love the suggestion to put your lock on it Keep us updated! Hopefully a happy ending. Re: [RBW] Re: Stolen Rambouillet UPDATE!
Well now that you have it back... put pitlocks on the wheels and seatpost. It will cost $100 to do it, but once done, a thief cannot sell your bike with secured wheels and seatpost without an outrageous story. No one will buy a bike that has unfixable flats. Every potential buyer will notice during the illicit purchase that the seatpost cannot be adjusted. It's good insurance. Add a compact U lock and your bike is secure. Been there. Re: [RBW] Re: Stolen Rambouillet UPDATE!
The locks are a good idea, but I doubt that the homeless man who bought the bike for $30 would have noticed the pitlocks.
