Ash, thank you ❤️ Evan, it was a lovely Hillborne. A couple (maybe 20s?) was walking their bikes and waiting at the same crosswalk as we were. I did a double-take when I saw her bike and said, “I like your Hillborne.” She shot me a quizzical look and said thanks. Turned back around to face forward, so no more conversation. I would have loved to chat with her and learn about her bike, but she didn’t seem to want to engage. Too bad! You guys. The funniest part was that we called my husband on our way to Riv. (He stayed back in Vegas to work, but joined us the next day for the rest of the trip.) We made jokes about planning to buy another bike, and knowing that would be ridiculous, he played along. When we finished at Riv you know we got him on Bluetooth again to tell him about our visit. I did my best work in that moment. I was a real actress. Cue the nervous tone and pseudo-apologetic speech. “UmmmJoBear Well, we didn’t *mean* to buy another bike, but somehow we did. It was just one of those things. Some things can’t be helped. But it’s only several thousand dollars. Just money. Wow, it’s a gorgeous bike. Don’t be mad...” But maybe the joke was on me. He didn’t get riled at all, so it wasn’t even all that funny when I announced Mom bought the bike, not me. In fact, I’m disappointed I DIDN’T buy a bike. If he isn’t going to be upset by me spending thousands of dollars without even being consulted I should have jumped on the opportunity! Leah: Ordinarily, I really enjoy your posts. But I LOVE this one! What a fantastic story. Grant looks like he's having as much fun as your kids. Getting your parents on new bikes is wonderful. I love that your Mom just took off for a test ride & came back with "wild eyes" & HAD TO HAVE THAT BIKE! Reminds me of when my wife first rode her Atlantis. She agreed to try it out to humor me & within a few minutes ride couldn't live without it.
