[RBW] Re: TA Cranks - 160mm
Hi Lesli YeahI was looking at Compass RH cranks$435 US for a single-chainring...I'm sure they're very well-made and finished...but Yikes! These would be ~550 in CDN funds + duty + shipping...Now...if Grant and Nitto ever conspire to make a crank...all bets are off Curiosity is killing me. I believe you had a custom Rivendell in that lovely blue colour (The pencil?) and I think that you also have a Vanilla custom as a randonneur. So what are you thinking for your new custom randonneur bike? I know you have a lot of experience riding these, and you're also very detail-oriented and patient, but I can't imagine where you'll go next.Pardon me if that is an intrusive question. [RBW] Re: TA Cranks - 160mm
Don't worry about the french threads on the ebay cranks - they're close enough you can just run a tap through and put your english threaded pedals on. M14x1.25 is 0.011 smaller in diameter than 9/16-20, and the pitch difference (1.25 vs 1.27mm) is hardly worth thinking about. Will you have perfect english threads? No, but really, they'll be close enough. Don't forget the anti-seize, though! Andrew -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. The SunXCD cranks are pretty nice. No 160 though. 165? On Jun 18, 2014, at 6:06 PM, Lesli Larson lesli.lar...@gmail.com wrote: Hey guys! Thanks for all the leads! Merry Sales / Soma sell the Sun XCD in 165mm http://store.somafab.com/sunxcd-exceed-crank-arms.html Roba (Germany) has the TA Pro5 built as a single in 160mm - you'd have to come up with a bolt set (and chainrings) https://www.roba-bikeparts.com/shop/Crank-sets/TA/Crank-Set-Single-TA-ProVis-160mm-36-teeth--145.html?XTCsid=b872b47ec0c31dbd1a4a1cf9023811dc I have (successfully bought chainrings) from them before. [RBW] Re: TA Cranks - 160mm
Here is where I bought my Sun XCD, and by the time I paid for a broker and international shipping, I save $40 over what I would have paid through Merry Sales. My broker was noppin.com. http://homepage1.nifty.com/ct-seizan/sub053.html They have a 162.5mm Pro5 listed, but by the time you paid brokerage and international shipping, it would cost you about $400, so you could save a few dollars over Boulder. The Roba link above still looks like the best deal. On Monday, June 16, 2014 2:33:15 PM UTC-5, Kieran J wrote: Although, French threaded I now see. Maybe that's a no-go for you.
