I think I have a pair of the black Suntours that you can use on 7 spd if you use the front shifter on the rear, etc. Rivendell used to sell them back in the day. This just for what it is worth: those black SunTour shifters can be judiciously filed to accomodate the throw for 8 cogs (and, if 8, then 9 and, quite possibly, 10). I dunnit.
