It was actually Fatty Rumpkins that made me sell my Saluki. They looked great but they were just lumpy & not made well, IMO. I had my Saluki a little before the surge in popularity in 650b so I would like to revisit the issue, especially with some better tires. But on the flipside, my wife loves her Betty Foy. NIfty Swifties on Synergy rims. Went through those, Michelin Axial Raids (and I’d STILL be using them if they were still in production!), Michelin (don’t remember, all black) on Aerohead rims (the tire and rim were not a good combination), Grand Bois Cypres, Soma Xpress (still have those on the Bleriot) and have pretty much settled on the Hutchinsons. Although after my new fender installation on the Sweetpea, it appears I can run the 38mm Compass tires. I’ll have to cogitate on that. I put 650bs on my wife’s bikes years before I went that way myself. The first I bought for her were col de vie’s I think. I just got my first 650b bike with WTB horizons. Pari Motos were mine. Great tire, but they don't last long enough. I ran Fatty Rumpkins on the trails some, and they did well enough. Started on Hetres on a trek elance 650b conversion. I went for a short jaunt on the C canal to test how they would do on the dirt road. I ended up riding 45 miles without realizing I had gone that far. After that, I haven't went back to narrow or bigger wheels. I remember in 2012 when I first started 650b riding there weren't that many choices I could find. Can;t imagine back in 2006!!! I think it was mostly Fattys, Soma New-something, Schwalbe green guards, Swiftys. Hard to find tubes back then too for me. All I could find were Conti Tours. At least with my sources, which I think were just Riv and online dealers.
