[RBW] Re: advice on 26x2.0 tires
Actually, if she's riding serious gravel, a full on mountain bike tire might be advisable. I run Continental Race Kings on my Ogre & they are really pretty great on pavement also. [RBW] Re: advice on 26x2.0 tires
Continental DoubleFighter IIIs might fit the bill. I was looking for a tire under $40 a few years ago and got a pair for $60. Riv is out of Continental Race King Sports but those are lighter than the DoubleFighters and have a knobbier tread. Echoing others I also like the ThunderBurts and Big Bens. On my mostly asphalt commuter I use a TB up front and a Big Ben in the back. [RBW] Re: advice on 26x2.0 tires
I've had Thunder Burts on my Atlantis which I really loved. Wanted to try the Rat Trap Pass, which I love even more, especially on streets. They're considered a gravel tire and I have used them off-road; great there too. Maxxis DTH, actually 2.15, but pretty close. Not overly heavy for their size either. Folding bead & if you scrounge around you can find them new for less than 50 bucks each. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Thanks Adam I also found these in my research. Curious if anyone has used them. Kenda Kozmik ii lite available in 26x2.0 in a more supple casing ...455g. [RBW] Re: advice on 26x2.0 tires
Another vote for Big Bens. I have the plus version since I ride areas with a lot of broken glass, potholes and debris. Smooth on pavement and does well on dirt and limestone trails. [RBW] Re: advice on 26x2.0 tires
+1 on Big Bens (raceguard type). They have a bit more tread than Big Apples. You can get Marathon Greenguard in 26x2 as well, but they'll have thicker (tougher) sidewalks vs. the Big Ben (raceguard) On Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10:00:21 PM UTC-4, Edwin W wrote: > > I’ve always liked the Schwalbe big bens. Might be slightly too wide for you but I've been on a similar hunt for tires for my partners bike and I'm going to try these; https://www.continental-tires.com/bicycle/tires/mountainbike-tires/speed-king-2-2 On Monday, May 20, 2019 at 5:03:56 PM UTC-7, jandrews wrote: > > Greetings Bunch > > I'm looking for some new commuting / touring / gravelish tires for my > wife's Bruce Gordon BLT. > > She currently has the older Compass tires that had the pasela looking > tread. [RBW] Re: advice on 26x2.0 tires
Thanks Conway, but I think the Smart Sams are way too aggressive for mostly road with some hardback trail and gravel. Also, I think she wants to keep the tires, but if not, we may offer them up. They have been on the bike for exactly 5 years and appear to have at least 75% of their life left in them.
