Andy Great ride report, as a former native Pittsburgher, I enjoyed the photos. 2 questions: Where was the 1st photo taken on the river at 1st light? I would say the Mon at the old J Southside works, the bridge would be the Birmingham (successor to the 22nd St). Emerald View Park on Mt Wash. Wasn't this called Grandview Park, and the photo left side shows the observation deck with a funny circular concrete roof? The photo shows the new jail directly across the river and the park south of the Liberty Tubes/Bridge. Anyways, thanks for the memories. I thought Rivendell sold these very "loops" for a while -- in fact, I'm sure they sold the same thing or something very similar. As is the bike as a whole. Nothing fashionable, all very workable, obviously well thought out and well used. Nice! (Tho' I'd prefer an upjutter stem.) [RBW] Re: Riv sighting Chuckanut Drive
I believe that was me :) It must have been shortly before my front derailleur cable snapped if I was still smiling. I was on the home stretch of a RT ride from Conway to Bellingham and ended up waiting in Edison for my friends to come back for me. [RBW] Re: riv sighting.
I, too, spotted a Riv the other day. I was walking along Market Street in downtown SF and spotted a woman, about 65 years old, riding a burnt orange Rambouillet, complete with flower-printed panniers. She stopped at a light up ahead of me, so I ran to catch up, stepped into the crosswalk near her, and told her I loved her bike. She said, Me, too! It's one of my favorite things. Then the light changed and she rode off into the west. I was almost as inspired by her as I was by Jay's Rivideo. [RBW] Re: Riv sighting in Nova Scotia
You see the odd one here in Toronto. I've seen a couple of Quickbeams and a Roadeo. I was in line at a LBS and the guy in front of me had a QB, and was paying for some service done on it. He told the counter person and a couple of bystanders admiring his ride that it was, without a doubt, the best thing he had ever bought in his life. On Jul 16, 1:12 pm, Jeffrey unclecowb...@gmail.com wrote: I have only seen two Riv's in my short life -- one orange AHH frame from afar hanging in the back of an MEC store, and a tourer driving by. Not a lot of these types of bikes here in salty, icy Nova Scotia. Yesterday I saw a couple cruising on a Betty Foy and an Atlantis. I wish I could have stopped and gabbed, but a friendly Nice Bike! shouted out my window was all I could muster.
