[RBW] Searching for a cheapo saddle with B17 like fit

Keep your B17 on the bike.
Go to bicyclebolts.com and buy and install their security seat post bolt, and
security saddle clamp bolts.

[RBW] Searching for a cheapo saddle with B17 like fit

2015-07-12 Thread M D Smith
Hello All-

I have been a committed Brooks B17 sitter-uponer for ages.

I have recently moved to the big city. My Rivendell did not make the move- it
has been sent to my mother's house for long country rides when I visit her. My
'80s Trek, however has come with me as an urban all-'rounder.

The Trek is currently sporting a B17 and I'm thinking it's a little flashy to
leave around NYC unattended. I am wondering if anyone out there knows of a
simple, cheap, probably plastic, saddle that has the same basic shape and fits
like a B17. I admit to not really paying attention to anything but Brooks
saddles for the last few decades, but looking just now it seems that the saddle
choices these days are
stripped-down-carbon-wünderbike-have-to-wear-a-diaper-ass-hatchets or
three-inches-of-foam-sit-up-and-beg-BarcaLoungers with not much in between.

Can anyone recommend (or better yet, have for sale or trade) a regular old
saddle that has the wide sit bone area of a B17 but doesn't have inches if
padding? Scuffed, beat-up or torn examples would be fine if still functional.

Thanks and cheers- Mike, recently landed in Bklyn, NY
