with helmets the key thing is fit. buy the one that fits. Most Giro and and
Bell mediums for me we'll, but poc and catlike don't.

I like the way POCs fit my wide head. Good ventilation. Pretty light.
Fairly costly.

Team Cannondale is riding them on the Pro Tour this year.

I have been riding a Giro Sutton MIPS since December 2015 and find it very
comfortable. Much lighter than the Nutcase it replaced. It's on Sierra
Trading Post right now for $55, if you don't mind neon yellow. I don't use
a mirror so no advice there.

Giro have some "normal" - looking SPD shoes, too, which I would wear if
they made them a size or two larger!

[RBW] I need a new helmet and am hoping for advice

2017-05-08 Thread Surlyprof
Bo,

I recently bought a helmet from the REI Garage. If you are a member, they
often have sales around Memorial Day. When they have sales, they usually give
an additional 20% off. I took advantage of this last Laber Day. Returns are
easy, too.

Re: [RBW] i need a new helmet

2017-05-08 Thread Tim Gavin
I'm happy with my Bern helmet. It's light and fits well (rare for me, I
wear the XXXL size). Berns have snap-in liners, and most models have an
optional thicker liner for winter riding.

My only criticism with Berns is that most aren't vented well. My Brentwood
is too warm to wear in mid-summer; I have a Giro I wear during warm
weather. The Bern Allston/Morrison models have better venting, and the New
FL-1 is starting to look like the vented "alien" helmets from many other
makers.

[RBW] I need a new helmet and am hoping for advice

2017-05-08 Thread bo richardson
i am in the market for a mid price range helmet that is not very aero.
not aero. i am not worried about air slamming into the vacuum behind my helmet
at speeds in excess of 12 mph.

polo helmet-ish would be nice. if i could get one with lights built an and
a mirror as part of the helmet that would be perfect.

mirrors on the glasses earpiece bend the glasses out of shape.

i would also buy a pair of glasses with an integrated mirror if that were
available.

does anyone have a suggestion?

thanks so much
