[RBW] off-roadish SimpleOne and new QB coming
Beautiful SimpleOne with those fat tires. I'd keep the Paul wheel set on the off-road bike, and get a cheap set of lightish fixie wheels on Craigslist. I've been looking at the Milwaukee hubs from Ben's Cycles, myself. Philip www.biketinker.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Re: [RBW] off-roadish SimpleOne and new QB coming
No recommendations on rims (unless you switch to disks; then I wholeheartedly recommend the Velocity Blunt SSs); but I do have a request (for all) about the cage. I've thought it might be a good idea, but I've had similar cages from Nitto for regular bottles break on me at least twice. I'll be interested to learn how the large VO cage of that design holds up to the weight of a 40 oz bottle on dirt roads. I would want a lighter off-road wheelset for the S.O. Not too concerned about hubs...of course they need to be 120mm in the back. I need to keep this thing on a budget too. Any suggestions? Also, I picked up one of the enormous bottle cages from VO for the 40oz kleen kanteen. A must have. -- Resumes, LinkedIn profiles, bios, and letters that get interviews. Re: [RBW] off-roadish SimpleOne and new QB coming
Good looking bike! Great to be able to have two specialized bikes like that! I have two QBs right now, and am always slightly tempted to get a third! Why are you wanting heavier/tougher wheelset for the road bike? Seems like you would want those for your dirt/rough-stuff bike and the daintier ones for your light road bike? Of course I figure you've thought if through and have reasons, just wondering on that. Whichever bike they end up on, consider the Velocity A23 rims for the lighter set. I have them on 32/28 spoke count on my road bike, and they're great. Have held up fine with the occasional trail use they get. I'd go with any of the Paul, Phil, White hubs, with a bias toward Phil.
