impromptu detours YES! That sums up my love of my Hunqapillar beautifully. I can always turn off on unexplored roads and trails, and when they get to narrow, park and run. Shere freedom and delight. Re: [RBW] New Riv owner
Thanks -- interesting. My two remaining customs define bicycle quality -- the later one turned 10 years old this month. And over the years I experience again and again how surprising the Rivs fit and feel, when I get back on them after riding other bikes for a while, even nice bikes. The Rivs just feel like home. I can't say that about *every* Riv I've ridden, but I can say it of 3 out of 4. I must say that, as much as I love my gofast fixie custom -- I *won't* weigh it down with fat tires, racks, luggage, etc; climbing is just too much fun on it -- by far most of my riding is fast, detoured utility riding for which, basically, I want a racing bike with fatter tires and luggage. The Ram may be a new entry to this category. *Still* waiting for a wheelset for the Ram -- brother did not bring one for me this weekend. I am eager to see how I like that one -- the geometry seems right with 58 c-c st and 57 upsloped tt, c-c. Must look for wheelset at the bike shop where I just started working (Stevie's Happy Bikes in Corrales) -- interesting place with huge stock of old stuff, consignment stuff, old parts. (Bike shop gig may be temporary -- let's see if resume writing picks up -- and it is very part time and largely social, but it gives me an opportunity to trade otherwise wasted hours for the bike parts I spend so much discretionary income on.)
