Re: [RBW] Re: Oh the humidity!

2018-08-07 Thread Rod Holland
Had a nice 31-mile ride through Eastern Massachusetts, 96degF and 50%
relative humidity (I think). Ride report
at https://www.bikeforums.net/20492484-post7556.html. Similar conditions
today, but I'm sitting it out; turns out to be the second day of an ozone
alert; noticed the haze yesterday, and then found out that had a name.
Drank a liter and a half of water, evaporative cooling worked like a charm:
sweat is our friend, at least while the bike is moving. I grew up in South
Georgia, so I'm used to worse.

Re: [RBW] Re: Oh the humidity!

2018-08-06 Thread 'Deacon Patrick' via RBW Owners Bunch
I loved heading off at 7am in the 50’s at 80% humidity. Warmed up quickly to
80’s and 30% humidity. Just has my mountain stream soaked bandana was drying
out, spotty rain, building billowing clouds, deep dark grey, then the deluge
for 40 minutes, dropping the temp into the 50’s and the humidity to 100%,
possibly higher in the hail. Delightful, all of it! Grin.

I’ve ridden and run all day in 110+ temp with and without humidity. Either way,
it’s hot. To those who do this regularly, wow! Tip o me plaid cycling tammy to
ya!

With abandon,
Patrick

I'ma gonna whine as much as I like. It's 100 outside my door as I type, and
the humidity per the nearest W Underground station is 12%. Horrible, just
horrible. And no rain for several days, too.

Re: [RBW] Re: Oh the humidity!

2018-08-06 Thread Ron Mc
Already shared this by pm with Marty.
We beat the south Texas heat today.
Took our kayaks to a 190 surface-acre no motors reservoir high in the hill
country. Always has a breeze, plus the lake makes its own breeze.

It was like taking a vacation to another state.

Re: [RBW] Re: Oh the humidity!

2018-08-06 Thread Tommy Patterson
LOL. I rode a 105 mile loop Yesterday in New Orleans, averaging a 19mph
pace (on my nonRiv road bike). Heat + humidity had heat index over 100F.
Winds were 10-15mph all day. It was brutal, but sure beat not riding at
all!

Anyone getting smoked out from all these wildfires?
