[TANKS] Full Metal

2015-11-26 Thread j chilton
I have been working on building a 1/6 scale Shinhoto Chi Ha for some time
now, however early on into my project I have encountered some difficulties.
I have been working with soft cold rolled metal, cutting torches, and a
saw. The metal is roughly 2mm thick, and has a tendency to warp when it is
cut with a blade, or melt uncontrollably when the torch is used on it.

How do you guys cut larger pieces of metal accurately?

Very nice. The suspension seems similar to a bell crank/ carden loyd type.

[TANKS] Starting out.

2015-02-25 Thread j chilton
Hello all,

I have been planning to build a Japanese Type 97 Chi Ha Kai (and Type 95 Ha
Go) for a long time now, and I am extremely happy that this project will
finally be launched. First however, I have never built anything like this
before (they will be made of metal) so I have decided to build some test
chassis out of cold rolled steel. I am looking for a good suspension set up
at the moment, something simple but efficient. Later will come the Bell
Crank suspension...

Thanks all of you.

Sincerely,

James.

Thanks for the advise Chris. I think I'm going to have the parts laser cut
and I have a fair amount of tools at my disposal so hopefully all will go
well and I will wind up with a very scale looking and detailed tank.

I see a lot of guys have opted for Aluminium. I am planning on using cold

[TANKS] Chi Ha

2014-12-23 Thread j chilton
Hi all,
I'm new to this hobby but I have experience in other similar ones (rc
planes mainly). I would like to build one of these tanks and I have read a
lot of the articles on how to build them, including the ones on the rc tank
combat website. I have one complication however, My only option for the
moment would be to build the tank out of metal and I cannot find any good
how to articles on that. Can any one offer any advice or anything else?

Sincerely,

James.
