Re: [RE-wrenches] Combining Enphase M190 and M215 on same circuit

2013-05-19 Thread Kent Osterberg

Jason,

The M190 requires using a 15-amp (maximum) branch circuit. As long as
the total current from both types of inverters doesn't exceed 12 amps
(80% of 15), there should not be a problem in mixing the inverters. The
combination you are proposing is only 8.6 amps -- it should be fine.

2013-05-19 Thread Nick Soleil
Hi Jason,

You can do that, but will need to maintain the 15A limit of the M190s. For
a single-phase, 240V application, with 3 M190s (3*0.8A = 2.4A,) you can
install up to 10 M215s.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Lorentz Pumps

2013-05-19 Thread Jeff Lahl
We have 1 Lorentz installation in Haiti and about 9 in West Africa - pumping
around 10,000 gpd.  Started using them a few years ago because we were having
lots of problems with Grundfos.  To date, I believe we've had problems with
1 controller and 1 pump. (not sure, but a wiring error on the part of our local
techs might have caused one of these problems) We're now buying from American
West Windmill and Solar in TX (800530-4744) and have had good service from
them.  For our next round of systems, we'll probably be looking at Sunpumps as
well.

Subject: [RE-wrenches] Lorentz Pumps

Greetings Wrenchies;

I have had a few inquiries for larger flow rate pumps, and was wondering
what the latest on Lorentz pumps was.  They show some commercial models
with high flow rates (30,000gpd) but I haven't gotten any response from
the company directly.
I have three questions:
Are there any good in country distributors?
are they worth giving a try?
and finally, is anyone actually selling any solar pumps, or just taking
a lot of phone calls that ultimately lead no where (like us)?

Thanks in advance as always,

Re: [RE-wrenches] Lorentz Pumps

2013-05-19 Thread Ray Walters
Interesting about the licensed pump installer, because in New Mexico
there is not a license. I've been installing PV pumping systems since
1988, so I tire easily now when companies won't work with me, because
I'm not qualified.
I actually installed some of the Mono hand crank and electric powered
pumps in Morocco before it was ETA or Lorentz.

I'll talk to Genpro on Monday.

Thanks everybody,

Unfortunately, as I understand it, Lorentz will not sell to anyone
that is not a licensed pump installer. You may talk to GenPro at
http://www.genproenergy.com/lorentz-submersible-pumps.html to get the
latest about Lorentz, or maybe team up with a licensed pump installer
and do the solar part.

We have had great results with the Grundfos SQFlex system for anything
that we have installed and haven't found the need to specify a Lorentz.

Good Luck
