[RE-wrenches] grundfos SQFlex

2016-06-30 Thread jay
Hi All,

Any trick methods to keep a SQflex running on AC power at a given flow rate
that is less than full power?

I’ve got a well that is just on 1 gpm, around 150’ lift.

the sqflex 3-2 will do it, but at 3gpm with full watts, an amazing 265 watts.

thx

Re: [RE-wrenches] K1-Open Fault on SMA SB

2016-06-30 Thread louis
Hello Jason,Just a bit late on this one but for what it's worth;I would inquire with the end-user if there was any abnormal AC issues that caused the Inverter to error-out with AC type errors(VAC, FAC) prior to this K1-open error. Many times these abnormalities can then generate a false K1-open error that can lock-up the Inverter.Power Cycling will Not clear the K1-open error once it is locked-in.However using Sunny Data with the Comm. port/PC you can log-in as Installer level and Reset errors to clear the K1-open error(some models of SB's you can use test jumpers on the control board to accomplish this also). You will either get a new K1-open error if there is indeed a bad Grid relay/driver issue or the Inverter will start operating normally!Last year I had a SB3000U with a K1-open that was locked-in;I cleared the error;all ok;no "real" Grid Relay failure. It turned out that the end-user had a back-up Generator and this K1-open error happened when he was performing a Generator exercise routine...The Grid Relays can/do go bad pitted/burned contacts typically or unable to close due to relay mechanical package deformities(heat/cool cycles over time). This is a easy fix however when it is a bad Grid Relay;simply replace(I would do All of them) and good to go.I take that SMA will no longer do Repairs/Support on this SB3300U model just like the SB1800U & SB2500U; their are others that will.Louis, SolarCowboyz

It's out of warranty. 10 year old SB3300U. Went out today. Everything checked out on the AC and DC side, fuses, etc. Looks like a dead duck. Owner went for a new SB3000TL.Thanks for the feedback everyone! JasonOn Wed, Jun 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM, Peter Giroux wrote: Jason       Fear not, I have had two in the last year and they were fantastic. Yes, mounting bracket (top and bottom)

It's not the easiest inverter to mount without the factory supplied
brackets, and I'm up against one that was removed and requires
re-installation.

Re: [RE-wrenches] speaking of warranties

2016-06-30 Thread Mark Westbrock
We have observed exactly that phenomenon on some Canadian modules that are
a couple of years old, but connected to a string inverter. We used an IV
curve tracer to test all of of the modules and they tested out fine. That
system actually has an expansion with Suniva modules and the Canadians with
the strange cell patterns actually tested out with a better observed vs.
expected ratio than the Sunivas, which do not show the worm-tracks on their
cells.

Cheers,

Mark

2016-06-30 Thread William Dorsett
Visiting a Canadian Solar array we put up a couple years ago, where there
appears to be 1/32” wide tracks crossing cells on several of the modules, (look
like little worm holes) branching and in one module they are particularly thick
just over an Enphase 215. Tracings in a few spots are slightly discolored and
appear raised instead of flat. Top glass and the bottom cover sheet is
apparently untouched. I would think possible a close lightening hit but none of
the MOV’s (SOV’s?) in the Midnight Solar lightening arrester are blown.

Have others of you seen similar damage? I am assuming this could become an
insurance instead of a warranty issue.
