Howie-Sounds like you may need a replacement Aurora inverter.I
recently replaced one of these Aurora PVI 4.2-OUTD-S-US with a 5 kW
SunnyBoy to get the Secure Power feature and upgrade to a larger size. This Aurora inverter is vintage 2013 like yours. It was working fine. The owner located in Fairfax CA  would like to sell it off inexpensively. Let me know if you are interested.Don BarchEnergy Solar Date: Tue, 3 Nov 2020 17:52:14 -0500 From: Howie Michaelson To: RE-wrenches Subject: [RE-wrenches] Aurora PVI 4.2 inverter Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Hi All, Does anyone know if any manufacturer is currently responsible for warranty issues of 2013 Aurora PVI 4.2-OUTD-S-US inverters? I don't remember if this is an "ungrounded" inverter, but in any case, if it needs replacement, what are the code rules for replacing it with a different inverter? I believe it isn't required to upgrade to RSD equipment since it is just a repair. Any suggestions for a good replacement that will reasonably match the PVI's input DC voltage specs? Re: [RE-wrenches] factory module damage, has anyone seen this?

2020-11-04 Thread Jay
Hi Bill

The whole pallet of 35. All are bent.
They are on the pallet sideways, not vertically stacked.
No damage to the cardboard box, or any packaging. All Oem packaging, full
pallet.
No damage to the modules, not a scratch.
Equal bend to the top and bottom of the modules
No damage to the pallet
No gaps between modules, sides or top.

I’m not sure if the pictures came through.

I have talked with a friend who’s worked on a few hundred megawatts of install,
he’s never seen this.

So far Canadian solar has said nothing but that they are within spec ie it’s
not a warranty issue.

I’d say that it looks like I’m not going to get anything from them. No
replacement, no discount. Fair warning to all about buying from them.

[RE-wrenches] Admin: factory module damage, has anyone seen this?

2020-11-04 Thread Michael Welch
Hey gang, if you have any questions about this admin post please contact me off
list.

If you are responding to a post with photo files embedded in it, it is best to
delete the files from your response before sending. This keeps us from having
multiple duplicate files sent out to everyone. This is specially important when
the files are large.

Further, it is best to ATTACH your files when sending to the list rather than
embedding photos or graphics within the text. This will eliminate the problem
entirely and give us the choice of whether or not we view the files.

Also along these lines, if responses to responses start to make the text
lengthy, we can help out by eliminating old footers and/or signatures before
sending. Not crucial, but certainly helpful in readability.

Re: [RE-wrenches] factory module damage, has anyone seen this?

2020-11-04 Thread Dana Orzel
I have never seen pre-flexed modules.

I would expect your supplier to replace & collect them freight prepaid or not
ever deal with them. That is not new spec equipment.

Hi Dana.

I did think of that ( all kidding aside)but given the response from CS, I don’t
think it’s normal.

Weird to even think how you’d assemble it. Is the glass prebent or the frame or
both?

I did hear from someone offsite they’d seen it on REC.

HI All,

I have some Canadian Solar bifacial BiHiKu 400 watt 72 cell modules that are
bent from the factory.

There is no pallet damage, and the bend is the same top and bottom.

My question is has anyone seen this before? I this normal?

CS says its within spec which seems BS to me.

What should I ask for from CS?

What about return shipping cost, would this be something that I’d have to pay
or CS?

So far they have offered $.10 per watt.

What would you all do?

thanks in advance
