Re: [RE-wrenches] LG Chem batteries

2022-03-03 Thread scot.arey
I too am frustrated with LG regarding the Resu10 RMA process. No word on when
replacements are coming and we keep getting “supply chain” excuses. I have not
given up hope on LG as I think their Prime 16 is the right power and capacity
for my marketplace, but if LG doesn’t get their warranty process fixed ASAP,
their recent announcement of getting out of the solar module business along
with this will cause everyone to question LG on all things solar.

Vic, like you, surprised not more dialogue here on LG unless we were the only
crazy ones!

In regards to LG Chem batteries, I'm surprised that there has not been more
talk about this issue. Our patience is running thin. It appears that they are
not going to send out RMA warranty replacement units anytime soon. We have had
a number of resu10's go code 43. We rma'd them back to socal lg chem
headquarters and now they are silent about when and where the replacements will
appear. My personal idea is that there is a class action lawsuit against them
and the payments to each installer cover the cost of replacement of the battery
and inverter. We would of course not use their product but something that is
proven to work. We need to make our customers whole again asap.

We have had two LG Chem battery systems affected by the recall.

RMA replacement is still weeks away.

The vendor says approximately 10% of LG units are affected by the recall,
that's a big loss.
Funnily I was always worried about LMC and these were the only two LMC systems
we installed, both needing recalls, complete loss.

The word is that there will be more LMC recalls in general, Tesla possibly.

We are happy with our LiFe solutions so far, and reckon Lead still has another
few years at least as a sensible and trusted stationary solution for DC coupled
systems until costs change.

Good luck to everyone with LG product, we won't be speccing anything LG for the
foreseeable future! Their modules were definitely quality, be interesting to
see who buys the R/IP.
